Counselling in Walton-on-Thames

My Work With Children and Young People

I truly believe that early intervention can make such a difference in securing positive outcomes for children and I am passionate about helping children to build emotional resilience during the challenging times in their early lives so that they can thrive and flourish.

I have experience working in both the independent and state sector in both primary and secondary education as a School Counsellor and as a School Project Manager for a leading children's mental health charity.

School Project Manager, Place2Be
At Place2Be my role involved managing all aspects of the Place2Be school project in partnership with the school. Providing a range of support interventions to help improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff. This role also involved the line management and clinical supervision of counsellors on placement.

Primary and Secondary Schools
As a School Counsellor working in primary and secondary education I provided weekly counselling sessions and lunch time drop in sessions using talking therapy, creative work and play to students struggling with a range of difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, exam stress, gender and identity, low self esteem and relationship struggles with family and friends.

Private Practice
In my private practice I offer weekly counselling sessions to children and young people aged 8 years and over. I can offer time limited or open ended sessions depending on the needs of the child or young person.

"It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self".
